Greene County YMCA Capital Campaign

President's Message

“YMCAs don’t build YMCAs… communities build YMCAs.”

Throughout my YMCA career, I have been involved in numerous, new YMCA and capital expansion projects. Experience has taught us a very valuable lesson: that being YMCAs, as organizations, don’t build YMCAs, communities build YMCAs.

The Greene County community is one that has exhibited all the excitement and interest for new YMCA development that anyone who has experience in helping create a YMCA will certainly look for.

The people who have been the driving forces for the project have been enthusiastic in their expressions and subsequent actions for a YMCA to succeed, and offer the community the finest health, wellness and fitness facility available to the residents of Greene County.

Community leaders have joined together to support and provide for the creation of a YMCA. Further more, many individuals have been quick to generously provide their time, talent, and assets to assure the best YMCA can and will be built in their community.

With all of these attributes emerging there is no doubt the Greene County YMCA will be one of the finest, most supported YMCA facilities in the world. Its service to the residents will be community minded, on-target and long lasting.

Everyone involved will take great pride and marvel in the reality and unlimited potential this YMCA will provide; as a great community resource and the long term positive impact it presents for the area today, and into the future.

I thank you and urge you to support our capital campaign as we stand by our commitment to build strong kids…strong families…and, an even stronger Greene County community.

Chair's Message

Greetings,

It is truly an honor for us to Co-chair the Capital Campaign for the new Greene County YMCA.

We have spent much of our adult lives in Greene County raising our family while building personal and business relationships. We are proud to help bring a YMCA to our County - we believe it is going to enhance our area in many wonderful ways.

It has become clear to us through research and experience what benefits a YMCA brings to a community. This area values our seniors, children and families and what better way to serve them than through all the positive features a YMCA has to offer.

We have been encouraged by the response from our neighbors and friends who have embraced the development and creation of this YMCA with determination and excitement.

In the months ahead we look forward to successfully raising the necessary resources to underwrite the newest facility in the Capital District YMCA network.

We encourage and welcome everyone's participation as we work together to not only bring a valued resource to our community, but establish something significant that will serve future generations.

Sincerely,

Hugh & Peggy Quigley
