The Capital District YMCA has selected Heather Bagshaw as the Executive Director to head their YMCA in Greene County.
In her new role, Bagshaw will be responsible for directing day-to-day operations of the Greene County YMCA, located on Mansion Street in West Coxsackie. The Greene County YMCA consists of a children’s corner and group exercise studio offering Yoga, Pilates, indoor cycling, step aerobics and other programs designed to build strong kids, families, and communities.
The Greene County YMCA also provides before- and after-school programs for children in kindergarten through 6th grade. Programs are available at Coxsackie Elementary School and EJ Arthur Elementary School.
In addition to directing day-to-day activities, Bagshaw will direct the capital campaign project to expand the Greene County YMCA with a new facility to be located in the Greene Business & Technology Park on Route 9W in Coxsackie. The new facility will feature state-of-the art wellness amenities, and offer programs for children, teens, adults, and seniors.
“YMCAs don’t build YMCAs...communities build YMCAs, and the Greene County community has embraced our efforts to offer the finest health and wellness facility available,” noted Capital District YMCA President & CEO David Brown. “It has become clear to us, through research and experience, the benefits a YMCA brings to a community. This area values our seniors, children and families. What better way to serve them than through all the positive features a YMCA has to offer,” noted capital campaign co-chairs Hugh & Peggy Quigley.
“I am delighted to join an organization which plays such an important role in so many Capital Region communities, and I look forward to helping this wonderful organization build upon its Greene County presence with a new, much needed facility” noted Bagshaw.
Prior to joining the Capital District YMCA, Bagshaw was the owner of Bleezarde Publishing, which published The Ravena News-Herald, and the Greene County Local Courier. As publisher, Bagshaw regularly worked with local officials, businesses, and residents of Greene County, developing strong relationships will all.
Bagshaw holds a Bachelor of Business Administration from Pace University and a Masters of Education from Mercy College.
